Where we've been and where we're going!

...the towns and places we've had the pleasure of visiting and the places we eventually will visit.

Places We've Been (In no particular order)

  • Munising - In the UP, see all of the wonderful falls, pictured rocks and the roadway scenic views. Stop at Bay Furnace Bagels and Froggy's in nearby Christmas.
  • Mackinaw City - Lots of history, see the fort, the port to Mackinaw Island, view of the Mighy Mac, great shopping.
  • Petoskey - One of our absolute favorite places. Go to Roast & Toast for coffee or breakfast or lunch, Duffy's for pizza, shop the Gas light district, grab a beer at Petoskey Brewery, take in the scenery at lake front parks.
  • Harbor Springs - The start (or finish, depending on which direction you are coming from) of M119 "Tunnel of Trees", best cookies at Tom's Mom's Cookies, quaint town has a Vermont feel.
  • Ann Arbor - Farmer's Market, Zingermans...the most awesome place you'll probably ever have lunch.
  • Frankenmuth - Shopping, attractions, Bavarian Belle Riverboat rides, festivals, Sugar High Bakery (chocolate covered BACON!!), The Michigan Store, oh and that one huge store...oh yes, Bronner's CHRISTmas!!...where it's Christmas all day every day.
  • Armada - Blake's Orchard and Cider of the best around...bakery, apples, cider, tasting room, hard cider, restaurant/bar, lots of activities in the fall.
  • Holt - The Coffee Barrel for some of the best coffee around...over 200 flavors and can order online.
  • Rochester Hills - They string up all the buildings in town with Christmas lights for December/'s amazing! Lots of wonderful shops downtown and restaurants. Rojo has a great bar and make fresh guacamole at your table.
  • Brighton - Great downtown, lots of great restaurants, river walk is fantastic.
  • Ionia - SoZo Coffee, great historic homes, brick downtown streets, historic theater.
  • Holly - Northern Oak Brewery, Blackthorn Irish Pub, Haunted Hotel, The Dicken's Festival (yes everyone dresses up and celebrates "A Christmas Carol" of my favorite stories), state rec area for great parks, picnics, fishing, camping, etc.
  • Davison - Nice farmers market, Lucky's Steakhouse for outstanding steaks and drinks.
  • Fenton - Great town, The Rough Drought for coffee, beer and drinks (food is great also), Spicer's Orchard with a great Cider mill, petting zoo, farm market, tasting room and Winery. Lots of restaurants and nice shops to visit.
  • Clarkston - Beautiful small downtown, Union Woodshop for great BBQ and cool bar upstairs.
  • Williamston - Tavern 109, Williamston Theater (for up-close and personal plays), sweet town.

  • Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad (Genessee County) - Wonderful step back in time with all the old homes, stores, churches, theater and blacksmith shop from late 1800s/early 1900s. Halloween and Christmas time is spectacular there.
  • Detroit Zoo (Royal Oak) - Great clean zoo, new penguin exhibit is amazing.
  • Binder Park Zoo (Battle Creek) - Go to the African village, feed the giraffes, lots to do and see.
  • Tehquamenon Falls (Paradise) - Amazing Upper and Lower waterfalls.
  • More to come...
